The con-going fans I know never used "SciFi" to refer to the genre itself anyway, preferring "SF." So for the channel to be doing this "SyFy" thing is even more nonsensical.

I sent them an email about it when they first announced the change. I told them it was AS retarded as the decision to put wrestling in rotation on their network.
